About the Plant Home in Bath, Maine

The Plant Home is a not-for-profit assisted living home overlooking the Kennebec River in Bath, Maine. With Mr. Plant's generous initial endowment 90 years ago, and the continued support the community, The Plant Home provides subsidies to low-income residents who would otherwise be unable to receive this care in a compassionate and dignified setting.

This home is founded on my sincere belief that those who have lived honest, industrious lives and are without means or friends to take care of them, have earned the right to be cared for. Only though the labor and expenditures of others is this possible." --Thomas Plant, 1917

Visa International Transaction Fee
for CU24sm VISA® Check Card and ATM Card Holders

Change to process for posting foreign transactions on share draft (checking) statements.

Currently when a purchase, cash advance or ATM transaction is made in a foreign country, the transaction amount is converted to U.S. dollars and adjusted by a 1% currency conversion fee. When the transaction is posted to your account, the total amount (purchase amount plus conversion fee) appears as a single transaction on your share draft account statement.

Effective August 1, 2005, the currency conversion fee will be discontinued. Instead, a 1% International Transaction Fee will be assessed on all transactions where the merchant country differs from the country of the card issuer. The converted transaction amount will be shown separately from the International Transaction Fee on your share draft account statement. This fee will be assessed on all international purchases, credit vouchers, and cash disbursements.

Change to foreign transaction currency exchange rate

Effective April 2, 2005, the exchange rate for transactions in a foreign currency will be a rate selected by VISA from the range of rates available in wholesale currency markets for the applicable central processing date, which rate may vary from the rate VISA itself receives, or the government mandated rate in effect for the applicable central processing date plus the 1% International Transaction Fee.
