It was brought to our attention by the Maine Credit Union League that some credit union members across the state are receiving text messages, alerting them about a false attempt to make a large debit card purchase online. The messages appear to be coming from various Maine-based credit unions and ask the recipient to “click” a suspicious link.
As a friendly reminder, you should never click on links received in emails or text messages from those you do not know. Anytime you receive an alert about a financial transaction from someone other than your trusted credit union, be wary! This is a big red flag for fraud.
Our credit union will never contact you by phone, text, or email and ask you to verify your banking account number, passwords, Social Security number, or other personal information. Always reach out to us by calling 1.800.427.1223 to verify the authenticity of requests.
For our members’ convenience, links are available in this website to allow quick access to other sites that may be of interest. Clicking on a third party link will take you out of Downeast Credit Union’s website to an alternative website not operated by DECU. The Credit Union is not responsible for the content of the third party website and does not represent either the third party website or the member if you enter into a transaction. Privacy and security policies of the website to which you are linking may differ from those practiced by DECU.
