Downeast Credit Union has announced the opening of a new administrative office building this fall located in Baring, Maine and a new branch location in 2022 located at 460 Wilson Street in Brewer.
The Baring Administrative offices will house approximately 20 Team Members who had previously been spread across other DECU branches in Baileyville and Calais. Construction has begun with the expectation of an October completion date for the work being coordinated by Andel Construction. The Credit Union will transition Team Members into the office during the fall and winter months. The location will be Admin offices only; no financial transactions will be conducted on this site.
“We had our eye on this Baring building, purchasing it in 2018 to solve our needs for additional space for the Team. The efficiencies gained by housing all of our Admin Offices in one building will be extremely beneficial,” states DECU Chair of the Board, Mason Pottle.
Secondly, after years of comprehensive research and member suggestions, DECU has announced the opening of a new branch located at 460 Wilson Street in Brewer. Construction has begun and will continue through the winter months. As part of this transition, the Credit Union will be closing its Springer Drive location in Bangor and relocating staff to the brand new Brewer facility. “We understand this move may be a slight inconvenience to some who live or work in the Bangor area but look forward to offering our Bangor/Brewer members a beautiful new location with easy access to the drive-thru which will be a welcome change,” adds DECU President/CEO, Joe Moses.
Bangor/Brewer members can continue to complete their day-to-day transactions at 24 Springer Drive in Bangor right up until the move to Brewer which they plan to coordinate over a weekend for limited down time. The Credit Union will keep members updated on a timeline as they progress through construction in Brewer.
The entire Team and Board of Downeast Credit Union looks forward to providing exceptional service to the membership as they continue to grow to meet the community’s financial needs.
