Once you have been issued your new card, please register your DECU VISA Debit or Credit card to receive VISA PURCHASE ALERTS by visiting www.visa.com/purchasealerts. Registering is easy and safe, and will provide you peace of mind knowing that you will be notified any time your card is used. VISA PURCHASE ALERTS allow you to customize the dollar amount of the transaction to be notified. For example: you can be alerted for all transactions that are above $1 or $100, each time your card is used outside of the United States, or used for Online Shopping, or an Over-the-Phone transaction, you will be notified by VISA PURCHASE ALERTS.
CHANGE TO PROCESS FOR POSTING FOREIGN TRANSACTIONS ON SHARE DRAFT (CHECKING) STATEMENTS Currently when a purchase, cash advance or ATM transaction is made in a foreign country, the transaction amount is converted to U.S. dollars and adjusted by a 1% currency conversion fee. When the transaction is posted to your account, the total amount (purchase amount plus conversion fee) appears as a single transaction on your share draft account statement.
The currency conversion fee will be discontinued. Instead, a 1% International Transaction Fee will be assessed on all transactions where the merchant country differs from the country of the card issuer. The converted transaction amount will be shown separately from the International Transaction Fee on your share draft account statement. This fee will be assessed on all international purchases, credit vouchers, and cash disbursements.
CHANGE TO FOREIGN TRANSACTION CURRENCY EXCHANGE RATE The exchange rate for transactions in a foreign currency will be a rate selected by VISA from the range of rates available in wholesale currency markets for the applicable central processing date, which rate may vary from the rate VISA itself receives, or the government mandated rate in effect for the applicable central processing date plus the 1% International Transaction Fee.
