Back in January our member Jean came to us for help. Her 1992 Chrysler New Yorker had finally had all it could handle. The fact that it went for 29 years is impressive, but it was time for something safer. Jean unfortunately lost her husband last year. The Chrysler was registered in his name only, so even if she did want to try and keep it on the road, the cost of probate and court documents alone would far exceed what the old car was worth.
Jean has never had credit; the little credit that was in the household had been in her husband’s name before his passing. Living very frugally as she does, Jean had found a 2002 Toyota Camry with 179,000 miles on it for $2,000 and wanted to see if we could help her get the funds. I for sure wanted to help her, but not with that car. I knew there had to be a better option.
It took some searching with Team Members Randy, Keri, Paula, Tonia and Jason all trying our best. After a few weeks we finally came up with the perfect fit for her budget. Today she was over the moon happy when the dealer drove this 2012 Hyundai Elantra, with only 55,000 miles from Auburn to Baileyville just for her! For the first time in many years, Jean is driving something reliable and all protected by a CU Certified Vehicle Service Contract, GAP, and debt cancellation!
